Under the tutelage of Master Artist, Aldona Saimininkas, Philitha has been learning the craft of Lithuanian Folk Art. In the winter of 2018, she and Aldona received a grant from the Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program (a division of the Connecticut Historical Society) to continue their work together as mentor and apprentice through the Southern New England Apprenticeship program, they went on to receive this award again in 2021. In 2021, Philitha was also the recipient of the Connecticut Office of the Arts, Artist Fellowship Program, Folk and Traditional Art Award to further develop her skills as a folk artist.
